The municipality of Kalithea stretches along Faliraki beach and includes the villages of Koskinou, Kalithies and Psinthos.
The area is dotted with numerous Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches, many decorated with frescoes and are well worth visiting. In recent years the region has grown rapidly due to tourism. Faliraki, on of the msot bustling resorts on the island, is famous , not only for it's remowned night-life, but for it's 5 kilometre long sandy beach.

The picturesque small bay at Ladiko, just ouside Faliraki and Traganou beach have impressive caves to explore, whislt the Italianate Spas at Kallithea bay are a must for sightseers and divers.
Koskinou and Kalithies retain much of the old world beauty of the island. Brightly painted houses with traditional coquilaki courtyards are adorned with flowers and vines.The friendly locals are often more than happy to show the wandering visitor the interiors of their homes where folkloric decoration of ceramics and handwoven textiles hold sway.
Psinthos is one of the many sites of real beauty to be found in Rhodes. A beautiful rural setting amongst running streams and massive plane trees. The surrounding area abounds with flora and fauna and the true culinary delights of Rhodes can be found in the many traditional tavernas. |
